Captain Sturdivant ships documented in this ledger would be the Birmingham & Milan from the years 1845-1851. The Ship Birmingham was once listed as an immigrant vessel and has a rich history of bringing immigrants to America from England. The Milan Schooner the Birmingham in this book, made many voyages across the Atlantic to England and to American eastern ports. Both ship’s captained by Sturdivant were stationed in Portland, Maine.
